New Horror Comic Book Series Showcases Watershed Wood Burning Art Technique
Bellingham, WA (PRWEB) September 2, 2008 -- Bluewater Productions launches a new horror series this month with a unique, cutting edge style of art - wood burning.
The series "Bartholomew of the Scissors (http://www.tfaw.com/Profile/Bartholomew-Of-The-Scissors-1___327195)" showcases this unique look. The first title of a four part series will be released this month and is currently available online.
Artist for "Bartholomew of the Scissors" Daniel Crosier explains what inspired him to develop the watershed technique that differentiates the series. "My gallery illustration work has taken a turn to drawing on wood, steel and other materials for composition. I wanted to take that concept and use the wood burning technique to expand on visual dialogue for the series. Darren Davis, owner at Bluewater green-lighted the idea, and we were all very pleased with the end result."
Eighty-eight pine panels were cut to create the 4-part series of Bartholomew. Wood burning was the predominate approach to the art and storytelling, however graphite, paint marker, color pencil, and ink were used to set the creepy mood of creator/writer Chad Helder's world for Bartholomew.
"Working with Daniel Crosier (http://danielcrosier.deviantart.com/) has been an amazing experience," explains writer Chad Helder. "The best part about creating comic books is the collaboration with artists: pencilers, inkers, colorists, letterers, and in this case wood-burners. Daniel's illustrations bring entirely new dimensions to the story. The characters have really grown and flourished through Daniel's graphic interpretations of their faces and actions--especially Bartholomew, who has become a very frightening little boy."
The pine panels that created the horror series are slated for exhibition in galleries and museums across the country.
