One thing that seems to be the biggest hit with people that take their holiday to Oslo is the Inferno Festival. The festival has some outstanding bands playing during the show. It is only held at a certain time of year, but it is worth it if you like today's music. The kids love the music. Therefore, this would be a perfect treat for them. The festival is a bit much for some people, but it is nice to see because they do have other things you can do at the festival besides listen to the bands.
Skiing in Oslo is one of the favorite pastimes for the locals and visitors. The mountains are ready for skiers in December and usually last until March, It is cold in the mountains and the hills are groomed to make the skiing exceptional. The winter months are slow except for skiers, but the summer months are great for biking, hiking, fishing and swimming. You can even rent equipment for hunting if you are into that sport. You can do just about anything in Oslo including some old fashioned camping. You can rent all the equipment you need to spend a few nights out under the stars.
Many visitors enjoy the Viking Ship Museum, which you will find is very interesting. The displays are spectacular to see because they are so old and still very detailed. The museum is simple, but easy to get around and understand everything you see. You will also enjoy a visit to Fram Polar Ship Museum and the Norwegian Maritime Museum. Then there is the Vigeland Museum, which is something different. It is a park and an art museum. The park is beautiful and the artworks are exquisite. You will enjoy these museums anytime of the day.
Your holiday to Oslo will not be complete unless you stop at Grunerlokka. A neighborhood that is filled with bohemian history as well as parks, shops and cafes. You will enjoy a seat in front of one of cafes where you can watch all the excitement that goes on in this neighborhood. The locals are always willing to share stories and talk about life in Oslo. You can learn more about the history from the locals than you ever could touring the city by yourself. They offer some amazing insight into the life and customs that they practice every day.
Then there is the Frogner neighborhood, the Tryvann's Tower and the Tusenfryd Them Park to see. You can spend a week or two exploring all the attractions and fun things to do in Oslo for your cheap holidays to the area. The fun starts as soon as you get off the plane and does not stop until you board the plane to depart. It is a wonderful place to visit and see how others have fun. The nightlife and the activities during the day will keep you feeling happy and content with many memories of a special city and people.
