Dreams for Kids Hosts Global Holiday for Hope

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 20, 2007 -- Dreams for Kids children's charity, an international children rights and youth empowerment organization based in Chicago, Illinois, is hosting a global holiday celebration for homeless and underprivileged children on December 22, 2007.

In 1989, a small group of volunteers organized the first official event for Dreams for Kids. News came to us that Ms. Clara Kirk had recently founded a shelter for homeless children and their mothers in the West Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, one of the poorest neighborhoods in the United States.

That year, on December 24, Dreams for Kids visited Clara and surprised her and the 52 children with a visit from Santa Claus and a Christmas full of food, song, smiles and gifts. As we were leaving, Clara cast a serious look and told us something we will never forget, "I am not sure if you really understand...if you had not come, these kids would not have even known it was Christmas."

Clara's words inspired Dreams for Kids to continue its mission and do more the next year. Each year the holiday party of this children's charity grew to include more kids who would be denied the spirit of the Season. Now the annual Dreams for Kids Holiday Celebration in Illinois brings over 1,200 homeless and underprivileged children to the largest party of its kind in the state and they are treated to face painters, clowns, games, crafts, 4,000 gifts, and a day filled with joy and hope.

This year, on the day of the Winter Solstice, Dreams for Kids will be joined by groups of all faith, in over 30 cities in 5 countries for an unprecedented day of collective, worldwide, hope for the children of the world who are in the most need.

Dreams for Kids international children's charity empowers young people of all abilities through dynamic leadership programs and life-changing activities that inspire them to fearlessly pursue their dreams and compassionately change the world. Programs include, Dreams Leaders, a global youth leadership program and Extreme Recess, an activities and sports program for children with disabilities.

Venice Beach: The People Watching Capital Of Southern California
The beach experience isn?t always just about sun and sand. One of the most enjoyable parts of any time spent at the beach is checking out everything and everyone around you. At most beaches, that means skimpy bikinis and the odd kite-flying youngster. At Venice Beach in Los Angeles, it?s a different story entirely. On any given day, juggling street performers delight the crowd, caricaturists draw unflattering works of art, and straining weightlifters glisten in the heat. All of this makes Venice unlike any other beach in the world, certain to thrill every visitor. ?Venice of America? was created as a beach resort in 1905. The initial grounds came complete with an aquarium, bathhouses, and an amusement park. Developers dug several canals t...

Holiday Stress
Many people love every single thing about the holiday season. They love the beautiful and creative decorations, the yummy multiple course meals, the lively Christmas carols and especially spending time with their families. They love all the holiday office parties, the gift-giving, and the partying on New Year?s Eve. Yet other people don?t like the holiday season at all. This can happen for a number of reasons. First of all, a person may have lost a loved one and the holidays just aren?t the same without that person.
